Legal Secretary Work Has It’s Place In Careers In Law

There are a fantastic number of jobs up in the City for those who have an interest in the law but have not always had the opportunity to train to be a solicitor or barrister.  For those souls who went to ordinary schools and colleges, there is the legal secretary secretary route.   After training the role involves  producing legal documents like wills and contracts;  preparing court forms and statements;  learning how to handle confidential documentation and information.   Much of the work will come from a solicitor’s written notes and audio files in the form of dictation, so an aptitude in audio typing will be exceptionally helpful.  Much of the work involves first contact with clients and parties to claims so a patient but firm manner is needed – many of the folk who are involved in court cases will be there bcause they’ve already had a rough ride and unfairness metred out by others up to this point already.  A legal secretary very often accompanies solicitors to court or police stations.    Being discrete is also essential, particularly if they are required to deliver and collect sensitive documents.  General administrtive work like diary management and record keeping allied with filing are not exciting but are absolutely essential to keep the operation running smoothly and utterly professional.
