Fraudsters Affecting Genuine Holiday Sickness Claims

Knowing what you can claim and not claim from companies when things go wrong can be a fraught issue.  Many fraudsters try it on every year, including many who with the ‘sickness ruined my holiday at an all inclusive resort’ trick.  This has been such a problem in recent years that the UK government’s foreign office has issued countless warnings to would be fraudsters that if caught out and a case proven against them, they are then classed as criminals very likely to be jailed for up to three years.  This outcome not only ruins their current prospects i.e. job security, reputation in a community etc, but it affects the children of the family for a very long time.  There is also the question of not being able to obtain mortgages, loans, credit cards, places for children at future schools; just for one chance to scam a holiday company out of a few hundred or thousand pounds.  Of course, word gets around about the names of passengers who have made claims against companies offering overseas holidays, whether an all inclusive  or not, to ensure they are not treated as possible fraudsters, it is vital to get legal advice.  Any really geuine claim will have documentary back up and evidence from the hospitals and medical teams involved.  This is especially true if any form of medical claim is made against their own travel insurance, perhaps to pay medical bills and even a repatriation where necessary.    To take matters further once home, seeking legal advice should be considered and is probably covered under the passenger’s own comprehensive home insurance.
